I’m a PhD candidate at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. My research develops probiotic architecture — a design approach that treats the indoor microbiome as a material to be cultivated rather than sanitised. I integrate computational design, robotic clay 3D printing, and environmental sensing to produce probiotic ceramic surfaces, treating environmental behaviours (such as airflow and thermal) as a medium for interpreting, visualising and integrating the otherwise invisible microbiome in the built environment.

I position my thesis as a design interface that connects microbiology and architecture, aiming toward a holobiont future. My PhD is supervised by Prof. Marjan Colletti and Dr. Sean Nair, and is supported by an EPSRC-funded project led by Dr. Richard Beckett (PI). Previously, I completed my master’s degree under the supervision of Richard Beckett at UCL, and bachelor’s degree under Dr. Jindong Wu and Fan Chen at Zhejiang University.
