Workshop Instructor - DigitalFutures 2026: Artificial Co-Habitat
International Workshop, DigitalFutures 2026, Tongji University, 2026
Co-proposed and co-instructed a 9-day international workshop at DigitalFutures 2026, Tongji University, exploring how generative AI can assist the design of clay-3D-printed green infrastructures, integrating ecological intention with computational fabrication.
Workshop: Artificial Co-Habitat — Designing Clay-Printed Ecologies through Generative AI Co-instructors: Prof. Christiane Herr (SUSTech), Dr. Christian Lange (HKU), Dr. Richard Beckett (UCL Bartlett), with Mono Tung (HKU), Cissy Chenxiao Li (HKU), and Yiming Liu (SUSTech).
The workshop investigates how generative AI tools can be coupled with robotic clay 3D printing to design ecological infrastructures that support non-human inhabitants. Participants engage with a full design-to-fabrication pipeline, moving from AI-assisted ideation to fabricated ceramic prototypes that embody co-habitation between human and non-human ecologies.
